Filtrations

Filtration is a mechanical or physical operation which is used for the separation of solids from fluids (liquids or gases) by interposing a medium through which only the fluid can pass. Oversize solids in the fluid are retained, but the separation is not complete; solids will be contaminated with some fluid and filtrate will contain fine particles (depending on the pore size and filter thickness)

HMX Filtrations Units:-

HydromagxTM offers a wide range of filters and filtration units for various ranges of applications. HMX Filters are available in a number of construction material options like MSEP, SS and FRP in both manual and automatic versions. The following types of filters are available.

1. Pressure Sand Filter.
2. Activated Carbon Filter.
3. Multimedia Filter.

Pressure Sand Filter

The main purpose of a pressure sand filter is the removal of suspended solids from water. Different grades of sand media will be used for removal of suspended solids. HMX Sand Filters are designed with top and bottom distribution arrangements and better cleaning efficiency during backwash period.

Standard features:-

Low capital cost
Effective backwash
Less backwash flow
Flexibility of operation
Easy availability

Activated Carbon Filter

The main purpose of an Activated Carbon Filter is removal of color, odor and chlorine from the water. Pebbles are used as a supporting media and carbon will be used for removal of color, odor and chlorine. HMX Carbon Filters are designed with top and bottom distribution arrangement and better cleaning efficiency during backwash period.

Standard features:-

Low capital cost
Effective backwash
Less backwash flow
Flexibility of operation
Easy availability

Multimedia Filter

Multi-media filters represent a significant improvement over single-media filters. This is due primarily to improved filter bed action based on the innovative use and selection of filter media. Suspended particles, whether they are mineral or biological in nature, can foul downstream filtration and process equipment, reducing their effectiveness, or even causing accelerated wear and destruction of pumps, seals, and related equipment. Multi-Media Filtration is often the first line of defense against particles in the 15-50 micron range from entering a process water stream. Depending on the application requirements, tanks are made of Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP) or Steel. Tank sizes, number of units, and control functions depend on flow requirements and duty cycles.

The filter media is contained in a pressure vessel made of GRP or steel, The usual filter medium is sand, anthracite, granular activated carbon. But other media is used depending on the application. Water enters the top of the vessel and flows downwards through the bed of media and leaves through a collector system at the bottom. Contaminants are removed through straining and/or adsorption depending on the chosen media. These filter can be cleaned by backwashing periodically with clean water. The backwash water enters the bottom of the filter vessel and flows upwards through the media bed, which starts to fluidize, that is the media grains begin to separate from each other and to float freely. The fluidization of the media releases the retained contaminants, the contaminants are then washed from the bed and out of the filter and drained out.

Standard Features:-

Low capital cost
Effective backwash
Less backwash flow

Cartridge Housing & Filter

Cartridge Filtration Units generally operate most effectively and economically on applications having contamination levels of less than 30 ppm. Cartridges are normally used as final polishing.

HydromagxTM supplies 100% FDA Procedure with 100 % FDA approved Polypropylene Fiber made with the latest Technologies and with the Fiber capable of giving the best performance on dirt holding capacity combined with good flow.

The Filters have a 100 % polypropylene fiber media and a pure polypropylene core. The Cartridge Structure features excellent depth filtration due to good porosity. Maximum operating Temperature is 70°C. The nominal outer diameter is 63 mm and inner diameter is 27 mm. The Pore sizes available are: 1, 5, 10, 20, 50 & 100 µm. The Standard Lengths available are: 10”, 20”, 30”, and 40". Generally maximum operating pressure is 1.70bar (24psi).
